THE CHALLENGE

Bridging the gap between product quality and digital experience

Despite offering high-quality cosmetics with a strong brand heritage, the Ellis Faas website didn't live up to the product's premium positioning. The old WooCommerce setup presented several challenges:

A seamless migration and complete UX overhaul

We supported the Ellis Faas team across the entire redesign and migration process - from first concept to QA and launch.

1. Why Shopify

Shopify was selected as the new platform for its speed, scalability, and ease of use. With prebuilt apps, powerful integrations (like Klaviyo), and reliable performance, Shopify gave the Ellis Faas team the flexibility they needed-without the need for heavy development.

2. Design and UX

We started with a bespoke design, working closely with the client to refine every element. We rebuilt all product pages in Shopify (20 core products, each with multiple variations) and created clearer product categorisation, streamlined navigation, and a more intuitive path to checkout. Key enhancements included:

  • Linked product variations for smoother exploration
  • Richer product imagery for every variation (via custom fields)
  • Clear menus and a premium-feeling layout

3. Custom Storytelling Page

To highlight the brand's heritage, we developed a fully customised landing page about founder Ellis Faas' professional journey. This page reinforces the brand's credibility and unique artistic identity.

4. Migration

We managed the migration of:

  • Over 85,000 customer accounts and past orders
  • Product content and key landing pages
  • All URLs and SEO-critical content were preserved to ensure a smooth transition

5. Compliance and Tracking:

To prepare the brand for future advertising, we implemented GDPR-compliant data tracking using Cookiebot via Google Tag Manager. We also set up GA4 and Meta Pixel to fire based on user consent.
